/

Heather Hutchison is a singer/songwriter and author of the new memoir, Holding On by Letting Go. She shares her story of life as a blind person both in Canada and Latin America, her struggles with anxiety and depression, the unique challenges of being hospitalized for psychiatric care during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the refuge she has always found in music. It is her story of choosing life.
Heather Hutchison is the author of Holding On by Letting Go: A Memoir, and an award-winning singer/songwriter with three albums released to date. Blind since birth and having struggled with mental illness from a young age, she is passionate about educating people on disability and mental health through her music and writing. 3 top tips for my audience:
1. Give yourself grace and compassion, change can be gradual.
2. If you feel like your current situation is unresolvable and you can’t go on, there will come a day when you feel so much joy, and you’ll stop in that moment and think ‘I would have missed this.’ Hold on for that day.
3. Lean on your support networks to help find the help and professional resources you need. Reaching out over and over to find supports on your own can be hard.
