I have the pleasure of talking to Lynn McLaughlin, whose mission is to lead and empower people to make conscious and positive choices when faced with a crisis.  Lynn gives people the opportunity to share their own voices, through her podcast Taking the Helm, through her own writing, or by helping aspiring authors publish their own books.
As the host of her inspirational podcast, Taking the Helm she introduces us to a new, courageous guest every Wednesday in both video and audio formats. Every episode is archived and searchable on her website by keyword or topic.
As a best-selling and award-winning author, Lynn has teamed up with epic content creator, Tracey Regan to offer the Dare to Write course through the Essential Academy. Participants tackle their own blocks and work toward the celebration of their launch day! Do you have a book in you waiting to come out?
Lynn’s professional speaking experiences have been local, provincial, and international as she leads us in tackling our barriers so that we can move forward to new and exciting possibilities.
Dedicated to community causes, Lynn is a member of 100 Women Who Care Windsor/Essex and is a Rotarian. As a brain tumour survivor, she works tirelessly to support the goals of the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada.  Lynn is a community member of the National Advocacy Committee. She strives to meet each new personal goal and completed her first Detroit International 1/2 Marathon in November 2019.

Lynn McLaughlin was the Superintendent of Education before retiring in September of 2018. She is well versed in all areas of special education, school, and board operations. Skilled in conflict management, Lynn also served on three different school boards as a principal, vice-principal, teacher, and educational consultant. In addition to her business, Lynn continues to be active in education, teaching future Educational Assistants at her local College.
Although she would say it was a lifetime ago, Lynn retired as the Executive Officer of H.M.C.S.  Prevost after thirteen years in the Canadian Forces Naval Reserve.  She was one of a growing number of women moving into executive roles at that time.
