Episode 48 – Camille Kinzler – Addiction as a gift. Creating a life I don’t want to numb
/

In Camille’s words:

Life is messy and beautiful, and eliminating alcohol or any vice should reflect that which is life. Removing your vice is not linear. No one quits the first time. We have usually spent years practicing the behaviors of drinking, and in return we need to practice the behavior of living without alcohol. More than anything, we have to find humor in our faults and understand no one goes through life gracefully. What fun is that anyway? Have you ever wondered if your addiction was a gift?

  • Looking at addiction as a gift
  • Mom wine culture and what we are teaching our kids
  • How behavior and environment are important when breaking habits, but the lasting change happens at the beliefs and identity lever
  • Alcohol as a triple threat: addictive, habitual, and ritualistic
  • Grey area drinker defined

Camille Kinzler is a self-discovery coach for women. She specializes in helping women who don’t identify as “alcoholics” explore a “sober curious” lifestyle, whether that is a 100 day break from alcohol or complete abstinence. In addition to her private coaching practice, she is a physician assistant who has worked in urgent care and family practice for over 10 years. She draws on her medical education, as well as her training as a neuro-linguistic programming practitioner, and certified life and recovery (from all vices) coach to help women discover the root cause of their cycle. She ultimately helps women create a life they don’t want to numb. She lives in Austin, Texas with her ridiculously supportive husband, and two boys who she sees as her biggest teacher. She seeks truth, freedom and joy every day.

Camille’s 3 top tips:

  1. Day one doesn’t start the day you stop drinking.
  2. There is no “one size fits all” to quit drinking.
  3. Alcohol is a triple whammy: addictive, habitual, and ritualistic.

Four times a year Camille opens up small group sessions to explore a life you don’t want to numb. The groups are intimate, confidential, and heart opening. It’s the perfect container to find the freedom you seek. If you feel called, you can join her free Facebook group here or contact her at camille@thinkbeyondthedrink.com for her 1:1 offerings.
